Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks Endorses Roderick Miles as Successor for Precinct 1

Cites Years of Dedication and Effective Leadership

Fort Worth, TX - In an announcement made today by Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks, he revealed his decision not to pursue re-election in 2024. Alongside this announcement, Commissioner Brooks shared his endorsement of Roderick Miles, Jr., his Executive Administrator, as the ideal successor on the Commissioners Court.

"For two decades, I've had the honor of serving both Precinct 1 residents and the wider Tarrant County community. Together, we've fostered stronger neighborhoods, tackled critical issues including healthcare accessibility for the homeless, infant mortality, healthcare disparities, and equitable healthcare access. These years in public service have shown me the qualities and dedication required for this role. Roderick Miles Jr. has all those qualities and is ready to serve on day one. That's why I wholeheartedly endorse Roderick Miles to step into the role of County Commissioner for Precinct 1," Commissioner Brooks declared.

Roderick Miles Jr., deeply connected to Tarrant County as a lifelong resident, holds strong community ties. Growing up in Precinct 1, Roderick has a history of devoted public service. Over the past nine years, he has worked alongside Commissioner Brooks as his Executive Administrator. In this capacity, Roderick has spearheaded community outreach, engaged with residents, and overseen vital initiatives across the precinct, spanning Public Health, Education, homelessness, childhood obesity, human trafficking, truancy and reentry efforts, among others.

"It's a privilege to gain the trust and endorsement of Commissioner Brooks for this significant Tarrant County elected role. My near-decade of hands-on experience has provided the essential training needed to serve Precinct 1 residents. Our county faces pressing challenges, requiring a leader with a proven track record, insights, and the acumen to implement effective solutions. With my roots firmly planted in Precinct 1 and my extensive experience, I'm committed to upholding the historic representation our community deserves. Continuing the legacy of impactful leadership set by County Commissioners Roy Brooks and Dionne Bagsby will be an honor," expressed Roderick Miles, Jr.

The official community launch of Roderick Miles' campaign will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11am at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, 522 Missouri Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.
